Golden Age of BBC Radio Comedy: The Navy Lark: Srs 1 Pt 1 - Due for release 04 Nov 2010

Product info from amazon.co.uk where it is pre-orderable for 12.99

"The Navy Lark", one of radio's longest running laughter-makers, kept the nation on the crest of a wave from 1959 to 1977. All at sea in the Senior Service were conniving Chief Petty Officer Jon Pertwee, silly-ass Sub-Lieutenant Leslie Phillips, and the constantly bemused Stephen Murray as 'Number One', while Tenniel Evans made mischief as Leading Seaman Goldstein. This title includes four episodes including the first ever show - Episode 1, "The Missing Jeep", tx 29 March 1959; Episode 2, "Operation Fag End", tx 5 April 1959; Episode 3, "Number One's Chair", tx 12 April 1959; and, Episode 4 "The Fairground Light", tx 19 April1959.

The Golden Age of BBC Radio Comedy seems to be a new range from the good old Beeb, possibly replacing the old full series box sets as there are new CD's coming out with 4 episodes from series of Hancock, Round the Horne, The Goons and Take it from Here.

The Navy Lark Collection is scheduled for release in September priced ?22.50.

The only details I've got are from the Amazon synopsis:

"Classic episodes of nautical mayhem on board HMS Troutbridge. One of radio's longest-running comic shows, "The Navy Lark" was broadcast between 1959 and 1977."

- so it seems likely that it'll be a selected highlights from the current 14 volumes in a 3 or 4 tape pack

When I find out more I'll put it up here

-==-

Site more or less fininshed now - just the episode summaries, which I'll have finished eventually :)
